It gives me great pleasure to invite you to our re-arranged Annual Dinner and Presentation of Prizes.
As you may recall from previous communications the Dinner will be held on on Friday 11th November at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Glasgow. You will pleased to know that there will be no AGM aspects to this event. The focus of the evening will be on meeting old friends and new, the presentation of prizes for our outing winners in 2020 and 2021 and on this occasion our two guest speakers Mr Alastair Forsyth and Mr Peter Brown more of which later.
Added to this there will be a 200 Club draw and our charity raffle in aid of the Beatson Cancer Charity. I feel sure you will enjoy what will be a great night!
The cost is £40 per person which includes,
– Complimentary drink on arrival
– 3 course meal
– 1/2 a bottle of wine per person
Following the meal we will have our 1st guest speaker, Mr Alastair Forsyth. Alastair turned professional in 1998 after representing Scotland at boys, youths and senior levels, winning the Scottish Amateur Stroke-play championship in 1996. After two years on the Tartan Tour, Alastair spent 15 years playing on the European Tour where he was a two time winner. He now coaches at the Mearns Castle Golf Academy and is once again playing on the Tartan tour.
Alastair will then take part in our presentation of prizes for our 2020 and 2021 winners.
We will then hear from our 2nd Speaker Mr Peter Brown. Peter is well known to many of us from his time with Bank of Scotland. Since retiring from the Bank in 2008 Peter has carved out a new career in speaking at events such as this across the country. A member and former Chairman of Glenbervie Golf Club Peter is a keen golfer.
As usual, all friends, family and other guests are more than welcome to attend. Please state if you have guests coming and how many when you book. In an effort to boost numbers we are offering a special deal to our members – for every guest you bring along there will be a £10 reduction in the price of your ticket.
You can book your place at the dinner via our website – Book Here. On the website you can advise guest details, seating preferences and any special dietary requirements using the request facility or by email to myself.
You can also book via email to myself ([email protected]) or to Stuart Mair ([email protected]).
To assist us in assessing uptake it would helpful if members could submit their entries at the earliest opportunity with an absolute backstop date of 11th October.
Payment can be made direct to the Club’s bank account or by cheque to Stuart Mair. For those who can attend and had already paid for our aborted February Dinner no funds are required. For those who paid and can no longer attend a refund will be processed in due course.
The last three years have been challenging for us all so please take this opportunity to celebrate the Club and our worthy winners with some stories drinks and not just one but two guests speakers for your entertainment. Can I just emphasise that a good attendance (minimum 50) is essential for the Club. We are contractually committed to this event which has been carried forward twice by the Crowne Plaza. Cancellation is not an option without incurring a significant cost to the Club and I would therefore ask you all to make every effort to attend.
As always your continued support is much appreciated by me and your Committee.
Alan Hewitson – Captain 2022
